Attention Jurors:

Original medical forms are to be mailed or hand-delivered. Copies or facsimiles of medical forms will not be accepted in the Jury Office. Jurors are encouraged to retain a copy of the document submitted. The Request for Medical Excuse from Jury Service form must be signed by a licensed physician or it will be returned to the juror.

Permanent excusal from jury service is reserved for extreme medical cases (for example: a prospective juror who is permanently bedridden, terminally ill, permanently hospitalized, or permanently confined to a nursing facility). Jurors seeking to be excused for other medical conditions may be postponed for a specified period of time. A juror may also be summoned to open court to show cause for the medical request.

Military exemptions are granted to members of the Maryland Air or Army National Guard during the period of enlistment. Current/active enlisted members of the United States Armed Forces with current duty stations outside of the Metropolitan Baltimore Area are also exempted from service.
