Family Docket - Postponement Policy
[Civil] [Criminal] [Family] [Juvenile]

All requests for any modification of a civil nondomestic or domestic pretrial conference date or trial date shall be made by a written Motion for Modification filed within 15 days of the initial order setting a date for pretrial conference and trial.

Thereafter, except for exigent circumstances, the schedule may be modified only upon filing with the Clerk a written Motion for Modification setting forth a showing of good cause that the schedule cannot reasonably be met despite the diligence of the party seeking modification.

Modification requests in cases on the domestic docket made for exigent circumstances* will be heard at 4:00 p.m. in Room 108 Courthouse East on a daily basis without appointment

*Exigent circumstances means an unforeseen development occurring within 30 days of the scheduled date which prevents compliance with the schedule.
