- Petitioner appears at Circuit Court and is directed to Medical Services (room 100,
Courthouse East).
- Social Work interns assist Petitioner with Ex Parte paperwork.
- Petitioner is escorted to courtroom of Family Division Special Master.
- Special Master hears case and issues Ex Parte Order, if appropriate.
- Case is scheduled for Protective Order Hearing before Judge by Domestic
Violence Case Monitor. Judges hear Protective Order cases on a rotational basis.
a. If the District Court has already issued an Ex Parte Order, case is set in for
Protective Order hearing before next available Judge.
- Paperwork is sent to Sheriff for service on Respondent.
- Necessary subpoenas for Protective Order Hearing are issued.
- Interns, aided by Domestic Violence Case Monitor, refer Petitioners to services and
programs, such as:
a. Protective Order Advocacy Program.
b. Community services.
c. Information on criminal charges.
- Protective Order Hearing.
- Follow up on referrals by Domestic Violence Case Monitor.
